There are vastly better skills than discord... if you are the creative type, you tailor your builds to the enemies you are fighting.... but not everybody likes to critically think that is why there is discord and sabway... It is effective in most areas but not all...like in WiK which is why most people complained "Its to hard" when keystone mesmers and spirit spammers roll over white mantle effortlessly in HM...

Discord does discourage people from being creative when they got something that is effective in most areas... Ursan was removed for similar reasons... This did and would make alot of ppl QQ..

Well said. I generally don't tailor builds to certain enemies, instead I tailor heros to certain types of enemies. For instance, if I know it's going to be a caster heavy area ill throw gwen in with keystone, or if it's going to be heavy hex I have talkhora with hex removal. I only work builds when I need to, which isn't often.

Sometimes discord is useful. Sometimes it is not. I'm not an enamored with it as I once was. If it went away, I'd happily find something else.

I have 9 more areas to go in Prophs for my Legendary Vanquisher title, and there's been quite a few areas were Discord isn't the way to go. I won't be using them in the 4 person areas around Ascalon (still need to do Eastern Frontier, Pockmark Flats, and Regent Valley). Balanced there is probably a better idea. I just finished vanqing North Kryta and didn't use discord.

Personally, with the right builds, I've found that Norgu and Gwen make a nice team with Jora as an Earthshaker hammer warrior and me as a rit running SoS with dissonnance. This team kicked ass for me in the Crystal Desert areas and it was nice that they could shut down the hydras and wind riders (or whatever the desert version of those things are).

Personally, I can't wait for the update that'll allow us to have a full team of heros. I have so many good ones that are under utilized.

They would probably stop failing and use spiritway hybrid since discordway is very overhyped and bad.

When I first discovered Discordway I thought "Wow! this is amazing and actually works great!", as my heroes had really bad builds.

Now I barely use it anymore. I usually take a merge between spiritway and sabway, and from time to time a panic mesmer... Atleast I take the bomber. And usually also a SoS resto rit + something which depends on area. A SoGM necro (for energy management) or panic mesmer works out well.

Anyway I think discord is overrated. It's pretty nice with calling etc, but it is conditional and non-AoE. (Spiritway just requires to put up spirits and they attack wether foe has a condition/hex or not)

I used to use Discord when vanquishing places in Prophecies. When I did Factions, I started using Mesmers & Monks. Eventually, I did a slight combination of the two with one Mesmer, one Discord Necro and a Monk.

Now, I bring a MM Necro, but if no corpses, I use the Discord, but I've recently found a nice combination in Blood Magic, specifically Life Transfer.

What works for me may not work for others.

I think a large portion of the GW Community would be lost for a few weeks. That is until the friend they depend on shows them Spritiway, Mesway, Sabway or any other flavor of the month.

Another quirk about Discord is that it is generally accepted and easy to throw a 2 player team together w/o anythought to team building. This is good for a casual player, but bad for creativity.

Ultimately it would be no big loss, lots of QQs, but there are better builds out there, and dare I say we would be better off with out it. At least it would open players minds to new builds that provide a more dynamic way to play the game.

Keep running hero builds with more utility and damage without sacrificing meaningful defense.

Discord is pretty mediocre at best; good survivability, pretty horrible DPS and almost no utility. It's just very easy to run as it requires almost no organization and almost everyone has heard of it at this point.

In reply to the OP:

Run SoS, SS, VoR, Ineptitude, SF, Splinter, paragons, ...

There's an endless list of broken PvE stuff. Discord barely scrapes the OP scale. It's broken in conjuction with Assassin's promise, more particularly the Damage shouts, but on it's own, it's barely scraping 40 DPS.

A warrior in HM with only SoH on him does more damage autoattacking.

Tried Discord and wasn't comfortable with going the offensive way with that one. Especially the way my build is. I'm working on making a 3 monk team revolved around each of them using the buffed Healing Burst.

Hmm... I'd probably come on here and watch people bitch and moan about the next popular H/H setup.

I honestly couldnt give a damn, i never use it and i never will.

Its just like sabway, making things easy which kind of defeats the point of guild wars, i dont like slow battles, but i dont like the ""I win button because i stopped caring about different builds or have no interest in making my own"" mentality

I often create my own builds, sometimes they fail, sometimes they own, but for me its keeping combat interesting.

I've never even put discord on my bar or a hero's bar.

So same thing I always do.

I used discord way to : vanquish all of tyria, cantha and elona. And for WiK. All with no trouble, so while discord way is not godly, it's not "bad"...it gets the job done as long as you have some knowledge on how the game works.

Now for Legendary Master of the North I kicked a discord hero and put a Panic mesmer.

But if you think you can use the same builds for every area without changing some skills, then yes, it's going to be somewhat harder.

Today, with pvxwiki being so well known, people will whine one day and the following day someone will already have posted new builds on the wiki.

I never bring necros, so it wouldn't bother me in the least.

My Necro heroes never ran discord anyways. So I wouldn't miss it at all. For my Necro character.........Necrosis>Discord.

I've never ran discordway, nor do I really run the triple-nec build that people attribute to Sab. I like changing my builds/heroes for everything. It's really fun to create strong teams that can counter prominent features in a zone/mission (e.g. hexes, conditions, melee, interrupts). I say, if Discord gets eaten, be more adventuresome! Try your own creations - you get to know the game a lot better that way.

It's not like Discordway is the best PvE build out there, even in general, so nerfs to Discord will only affect me after the 7-hero update.

Although I haven't played in quite some time, I had never seen a reason to move past Sabway. It probably wasn't the best/fastest, but it got the job done for the most part.

Icy Veins-way? I've been using Discordway for the boring repetitive WiK quests but otherwise I use the appropriate heroes for the job. I like using half-Spiritway/half-Discordway the best. My default config is my Necro(SoS or SV, depending on the situation), Acolyte Sosuke(Savannah Heat Nuke guy), Melonni(Avatar of Grenth), and Xandra(Heals). Lately I've been trying different combos of heroes just for fun.

People complain about Discordway but imagine things after the Embard Beach update. You could run Discordway plus anything else. *lol.* Discordway + Mesmers(Panic and Ineptitude ftw) + Spiritway for me.
